Estate planning is about protecting what matters most to you in the event you pass on or become incapacitated. For many, this means providing appropriately for their family, their autonomy, and the financial foundation they worked so hard to achieve. At Seiter Law, that experience starts before our first meeting. I will provide you with a carefully crafted questionnaire to help you formulate your

planning goals and gather all of the important information we need. That questionnaire, along with your feedback, will guide our first discussion. Best of all that discussion is FREE! From there, my job is to give you the attention and guidance you need as we craft a comprehensive plan that is personal to you and your situation. While it is not easy to think about some of these “what if” scenarios, having a strong estate plan can provide peace of mind to you and those you love. Parents spend a lifetime protecting, guiding and caring for their children.

On Global Day of Parents, it’s a good reminder that one of the most meaningful ways to care for your family is to have a plan in place.

An estate plan can help you name guardians for minor children, protect loved ones, clarify your wishes and reduce stress for your family during difficult moments.

And once children become legal adults, parents may no longer have automatic access to medical information or the ability to make decisions in an emergency. HIPAA authorizations, healthcare directives and powers of attorney can make a real difference.

Planning ahead is not about expecting the worst. It is about protecting the people who matter most. Contact us for a free consultation. 📱

Q: What does a power of attorney actually do?
A: A power of attorney allows you to appoint someone you trust to act on your behalf in certain situations.

A financial power of attorney can allow someone to help with things like paying bills, managing accounts, signing documents, or handling financial matters if you are unable to do so yourself.

A healthcare power of attorney covers medical decisions.

These documents can be incredibly important if you become ill, injured, or otherwise unable to manage things on your own. Without them, your family may have a much harder time helping you when it matters most.

Questions about your own plan? Seiter Law can help you think through the next step.

Losing a loved one is hard enough. Settling their affairs should not add months of confusion, stress and unexpected expenses.

A 2025 report from Empathy.com calls this burden the “Grief Tax,” and the numbers are eye-opening:

• It takes an average of 20 months to fully settle an estate
• 54% of people pay out-of-pocket expenses after a loss, even when some planning is in place
• 66% of executors report experiencing panic attacks while managing post-loss responsibilities

Estate planning cannot take away grief, but it can help reduce unnecessary stress, delays and uncertainty for the people you love.

A clear, customized estate plan can help your family avoid probate complications, protect important assets, reduce financial strain and give your executor the guidance they need during a very difficult time.

Planning ahead is one of the most meaningful gifts you can leave behind.

Just had a baby? Congratulations! 🍼

There is so much to think about in those early days, from diapers and feedings to doctor visits, sleep schedules and all the gear that somehow comes with one tiny person.

But there is one important step many new parents do not think about right away: updating or creating an estate plan.

A thoughtful estate plan can help protect your child’s future and give you peace of mind as your family grows. Some key steps include:

✅ Naming a guardian for your child
✅ Updating or creating your will
✅ Considering whether a trust is right for your family
✅ Reviewing beneficiaries on life insurance and retirement accounts
✅ Making sure powers of attorney and healthcare directives are in place
✅ Organizing important documents so your loved ones know where to find them

Becoming a parent changes everything. Your estate plan should reflect that.

Seiter Law can help you take the next step with a free consultation.

Q: Who can make medical decisions if I become incapacitated?
A: Not automatically the person you would assume.

If you become incapacitated and do not have the right documents in place, your loved ones may face delays, confusion, or even court involvement before they can step in.

A healthcare power of attorney allows you to name someone you trust to make medical decisions on your behalf if needed. That can be one of the most important parts of an estate plan because it protects you during life, not just after death.

Estate planning is also incapacity planning.

Q: What happens if you die without an estate plan in Arizona?
A: Arizona law decides what happens next. 😲

That means the state will determine who inherits your property based on intestacy laws. It also means the court will decide who handles your estate if you have not named someone yourself.

If you have minor children, the situation can become even more complicated because your preferences may not be clearly documented.

An estate plan gives you a voice. Without one, important decisions may be left up to the law instead of you.
