Here's the part most people don't realize about serving papers in South Carolina:

If your serve isn't done by a sheriff, a court-appointed server, or a disinterested adult over 18 — your case can get dismissed before it ever sees a judge. SC Rule of Civil Procedure 4(c) doesn't care that you "got the papers to them." It cares that you did it right.

Wrong server = wrong outcome.
