Shimek Law Firm is moving! We will begin operating at our new location, 20300 Superior, Suite 123, Taylor, MI 48180, on 11/2/2020. We will be moving this Friday, 10/30/2020, and plan on being completely moved by Monday, 11/2/2020.

Throughout the moving process we will be operating with limited availability. We will do our best to return all calls and emails as they are received during the move.

We are now open full time and back to our regular business hours here at Shimek Law Firm.

We do ask that everyone coming in to our office wear a protective mask for the time being. If you do not have one with you we will provide one for you.

We are also booking in-person meetings for the first time since our doors were closed due to Covid-19. However, we will still be offering phone and Zoom meetings for individuals that do not wish to meet in person.

For all clients and friends, if you interested in seeing how the Wayne County Circuit Court is operating remotely via Zoom, you may attend most hearings via each courtroom's YouTube live stream. Here is the link to the Court's Zoom hearing info - https://www.3rdcc.org/zoom.

You simply click on the section of the court you wish to watch, and then click on any particular Judge's YouTube Live Stream link.

The Wayne County Circuit Court Family Division has started regular hearings this week via Zoom, and we have already sent many notices to clients with instructions for how to attend these hearings.

Our office is still physically closed, however, we are working remotely and in full operation. We are using various forms of technology that allow us to operate this way, including Zoom, Gsuite, Docusign, Dropbox, the Comcast Business App and our case management cloud software MyCase.

With the use of the this technology, our office is well positioned to help with all of your legal needs during this time.

Update:

Our office remains physically closed, however, we are still operating remotely from home. All phone calls are being transferred to our cell phones during regular business hours of 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday. You can also reach us via e-mail or Facebook messenger.

We are conducting free telephonic and Zoom consultations for all potential new clients.

The Wayne County Circuit Court Family Division is still handling emergency hearings only. However, they are now accepting filings online. Non-emergency hearings are expected to resume May 11, 2020, and will most likely be conducted via Zoom video conferencing. We will update all of our clients whenever we receive more details.

All bankruptcy hearings in the Eastern District of Michigan are being conducted as scheduled via telephone or Zoom video conferencing. The exact procedure depends on the Trustee and/or Judge the hearing is in front of.

COVID-19 UPDATE:

Shimek Law Firm will remain physically closed this week. We are working remotely and are available during regular business hours via telephone, Zoom, and e-mail. The courts remain closed for the most part, except for emergencies and essential services.

Whitmer - Executive Order 2020-21 (COVID-19)

All Clients and Colleagues:

Due to Executive Order 2020-21 entered by Governor Whitmer this morning, we will begin working remotely on 3/24/2020. We will still be available by phone and e-mail to handle all of your legal needs during this unprecedented time of uncertainty. However, our office will not be open to the public.

As of now, this will continue until April 13, 2020. However, this seems like a fluid situation, therefore, we will update you if anything changes.

The Michigan Supreme Court has just entered an order superseding all Circuit and District Court orders RE court closures.

Now all courts will be limited to essential functions and emergencies until at least April 6, 2020. See the order by clicking the link below.
