After an unsuccessful campaign season last fall when I was posting my every thought and movement on at least four pages, I haven't posted much the last several months. I miss public service and leaving it has left a big hole in my heart and in my wallet. However, I have received one of the opportunities I had been hoping for when I left the school committee. As most of you know, I am a certified lay minister in the United Methodist Church. I was hoping to be assigned to a local parish ministry tea when I received an unusual circumstance. The denomination was having difficulty recruiting a new pastor for my own church, Memorial United Methodist Church in Taunton. Because there were a few people in our congregation with certifications as lay ministers and lay speakers, our district superintendent decided to form a ministry team for Memorial with three of our members and an outsider. I will be preaching on average once a month and I am doing this Sunday and next because of swaps to accommodate vacation schedules. I am looking forward to preaching more often because it forces me to learn more and to think. I hope some of you will stop by to hear my colleagues and me so we can grow our congregation. May God Bless.
