The Hillsborough County Bar Association and HCBA Young Lawyers Division are excited to launch the YLD 2026-27 Mentor-Fellow Program—a structured, eight-month experience connecting experienced practitioners with motivated young lawyers.

Running from October 2026 through May 2027, the program will offer opportunities for candid conversation, meaningful professional development, and lasting connections that extend well beyond the program.

Applications are open to both mentors and fellows through September 25, 2026.

Please join us in congratulating Idalis Vento on being selected as a 2026 Super Lawyers Rising Star, a distinction recognizing the top 5% of attorneys in the state. As the Founder of Vento Law Firm, Idalis focuses her practice on criminal defense. Before founding the firm, she served as an Assistant Public Defender in Maryland and an Assistant State Attorney in Florida’s 13th Judicial Circuit, gaining valuable experience on both sides of the courtroom. Outside of the office, Idalis enjoys practicing karate, reading, and spending time with her family and friends. Congratulations, Idalis, on this well-deserved recognition!

Register now to join us at the 2026 HCBA Law Student Networking & Career Fair on Saturday, Sept. 26! The Fair is designed to connect law students from across the state with local attorneys, law firms, judges, local bar associations, nonprofit organizations and government agencies in a casual, friendly, and low-pressure environment.

Law firms, government agencies, bar associations, and legal organizations are invited to be a sponsor, which includes a booth at the event where they will be able to network with the law students and discuss opportunities, such as potential internships or positions. Government agencies and volunteer bar associations can host a table at no cost.

HCBA's Bar Leadership Institute is now accepting applications for the 2026-27 class. The Bar Leadership Institute (BLI) program aims to identify and develop young attorneys of diverse backgrounds who have the potential to grow into future HCBA and community leaders. The deadline to apply is Tuesday, August 18, at 5 p.m.

The leadership program consists of monthly learning modules and site visits, held mostly in the afternoons. And it also involves the completion of a community service project that is chosen, managed and completed by the leadership class. In addition, there is no cost to participate in the program. The 2026-27 BLI class schedule and monthly modules begin in September 2026 and run through May 2027.
