Happy Father’s Day!

Today, we celebrate the fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, and father figures who lead with strength, integrity, and unconditional love.

As attorneys, we see firsthand the sacrifices fathers make to protect and provide for their families. Whether standing by their loved ones through difficult times or serving as a steady source of guidance and support, fathers play an invaluable role in our communities.

On this Father’s Day, we honor the men who work tirelessly to keep their families safe and secure. Thank you for your dedication, resilience, and commitment.

From all of us at the Matassini Law Firm, we wish you and your family a happy, safe, and memorable Father’s Day.

Today, we honor Juneteenth — a day that marks the end of slavery in the United States and celebrates freedom, resilience, and progress.

Juneteenth is a reminder that justice is not only a legal principle but an ongoing pursuit. As attorneys, we are committed to advocating for fairness, protecting rights, and ensuring every individual has access to equal treatment under the law.

Today, we reflect on our nation's history, recognize the contributions of Black Americans, and reaffirm our commitment to justice for all.

Wishing everyone a meaningful and reflective Juneteenth.

You were hit by an uninsured driver and now you have no idea what to do next. The decisions you make in the first 24 to 48 hours carry a lot of weight. Here is what we tell our clients:

1. Call the police and file a report. An officer’s report is the foundation of your claim.
2. Document everything at the scene. Photographs of the vehicles, the road, visible injuries, and anything else relevant.
3. Seek medical attention within 14 days. This is the PIP deadline. Do not wait to see how you feel in a week.
4. Notify your own insurer. You are likely required to report the accident under your policy terms.
5. Do not give a recorded statement to any insurance company before speaking with an attorney. Adjusters are trained to gather information that minimizes what they pay out.
6. Contact a personal injury attorney before accepting any settlement offer. Once you sign a release, that claim is closed.

Because the first hours are so important do not waste time. Call our offices at 813.217.5715 and we will walk through the process with you and reach the best possible resolution for your case.

You were just heading home from work. Or maybe you had just finished picking up the groceries from the store and 5 minutes from home. And then it happened. You were hit from behind, and the person who hit you has no insurance. Ugh. This was not in the cards for today- but now you have to deal with the situation. BUT you do not have to deal with it alone!

Roughly one in five Florida drivers carries no auto insurance at any given time. That figure consistently places Florida among the five worst states in the country by that measure.

Florida operates under a no-fault insurance system. That means that after a car accident, your Personal Injury Protection (PIP) coverage pays first, regardless of who caused the crash.

Florida law requires every registered vehicle to carry at least $10,000 in PIP coverage. That coverage pays:

✅ 80 percent of covered medical expenses
✅ 60 percent of lost wages in certain circumstances
✅ Up to $5,000 in death benefits

There is one critical rule you need to know: you must seek medical treatment within 14 days of the accident to access your PIP benefits. Miss that window, and you may forfeit coverage entirely. So do not delay and call our offices today at 813.217.5715 and we can help you through this unexpected situation.

In the meantime read more about what PIP insurance covers, uninsured motorist coverage, and how we help clients who have been involved in accidents of this nature in our latest blog https://bit.ly/43i1r33.

Today, we recognize World Environment Day, a reminder that protecting our environment is a responsibility we all share. Small actions—reducing waste, conserving resources, recycling, and supporting cleaner communities—can have a lasting impact on future generations.

As members of this community, we believe in accountability, responsibility, and working toward a safer, healthier future for everyone. Taking care of our environment helps create stronger neighborhoods and a better quality of life for all.

This World Environment Day, consider taking one simple step to make a difference:
🌱 Plant a tree
♻️ Recycle and reduce waste
🚶 Walk, bike, or carpool when possible
💧 Conserve water and energy
🧹 Participate in a local community cleanup

Together, our individual actions can lead to meaningful change. What small change will you start with today?

Happy World Environment Day!

🚴‍♂️ Bike Safety Matters 🚴‍♀️

Whether you're riding to work, exercising, or enjoying the outdoors, bicycle safety should always come first.

✅ Wear a properly fitted helmet
✅ Obey traffic signals and signs
✅ Ride with traffic, not against it
✅ Use lights and reflectors when riding at night
✅ Stay alert and avoid distractions like texting or wearing headphones

Drivers and cyclists share the road, and everyone has a responsibility to help prevent accidents.

If you've been injured in a bicycle accident due to a negligent driver, you may have legal rights. Understanding those rights can make a significant difference in protecting your health, finances, and future.

Stay safe, stay visible, and ride smart.

🇺🇸 This Memorial Day, we honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

Their courage, dedication, and selflessness have protected the freedoms we enjoy every day. At the Matassini Law Firm, we are grateful for those who gave everything for our nation and extend our deepest appreciation to the military families who carry their legacy forward. We especially want to recognize our firm's founder, Nick Matassini who proudly served our country as a United States Marine.

As we gather with family and friends this holiday weekend, may we also take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day.

Wishing everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day.

☀️🚤 Boating Season Is Here — Safety Should Always Come First 🚤☀️

Spending time on the water is one of the best parts of summer, but a relaxing day can turn serious in seconds when safety is ignored.

With summer kicking off this weekend with Memorial Day, here are some quick reminders about boating responsibly:

✔️ Always wear a life jacket
✔️ Never operate a boat under the influence of alcohol or drugs
✔️ Follow speed limits and no-wake zones
✔️ Keep proper safety equipment onboard
✔️ Pay attention to weather conditions before heading out
✔️ Avoid distractions and keep a proper lookout at all times
✔️ Make sure everyone onboard knows basic boating safety procedures

Boating under the influence can lead to criminal charges, serious injuries, and life-changing consequences for everyone involved.

If you or a loved one is injured due to another operator’s negligence, documenting the incident and seeking immediate medical attention is critical to protecting your health and your legal rights.

Enjoy the water responsibly. Safe boating protects you, your passengers, and everyone sharing the lake.
