A historic victory for IB Member Prince Glover Hayes! ⚖️👏

We’re proud to recognize PGH attorney Matt Glover and his team for their work representing former University of Alabama basketball player Kai Spears in his defamation case against The New York Times.

After a nine-day federal trial, a jury found in favor of Spears and awarded $9.25 million in damages—marking the first time in more than 50 years that The New York Times has lost a defamation lawsuit in the United States.

Congratulations to Matt and the entire PGH team on this extraordinary result and another powerful example of the exceptional trial advocacy within the Injury Board community.

Prince Glover Hayes Attorney Matt Glover, Attorney Steve New of Stephen New & Associates, and Attorney Ginger Buck of Buck Law secured a historic verdict against The New York Times on behalf of Kai Spears, a former Alabama basketball player falsely reported as being present at the scene of a tragic shooting in Tuscaloosa in 2023. After nine full days of trial, including five hours of deliberation, the jury returned a $9.25 million verdict, marking the first defamation suit the New York Times has lost in over 50 years. To read more about the trial and verdict, see these articles from Patch, AP, and CBS. PGH is extremely proud of Matt and his team's unceasing efforts and celebrates the truth finally coming to light.

👏 We’re proud to celebrate IB Member Sweeney Merrigan Personal Injury Lawyers for securing a $56 million verdict, totaling nearly $64 million with interest, on behalf of their client.

This significant result will help ensure their 78-year-old client has access to the care and support he needs. We commend attorneys Marc Breakstone, Tucker Merrigan, Korey Kajko, and the Sweeney Merrigan team for their dedicated advocacy and commitment to pursuing justice for their clients.

$56 MILLION VERDICT. Nearly $64 MILLION WITH INTEREST.

The largest verdict of its kind in Massachusetts history (single plaintiff, non-punitive). We are incredibly proud to have secured a $56 million verdict, which will total nearly $64 million with interest.

Most importantly, this result will help ensure that our 78-year-old client has access to the care and support he needs.

We are honored to advocate for our clients and fight for the justice and compensation they deserve.
