This one comes straight from personal experience, and it's a lesson many people learn the hard way.
If someone steals your car in Florida, your comprehensive insurance coverage should kick in. But here's the part most people don't know. If you handed someone the keys and they never came back, your insurance company may deny your claim entirely. It's considered a voluntary transfer of the vehicle, not a theft, and that distinction matters more than most people realize.
⠀
Attorney Edward Reyes actually lived this. He gave someone the keys, the car ended up destroyed, and the insurance company wouldn't pay. The claim was flagged as fraudulent, leaving him with nothing.

Check your policy right now. Make sure you have comprehensive coverage, and be very careful about who you hand your keys to. If you're in Tampa, Brandon, Riverview, Sun City, or anywhere in Hillsborough County and have questions about a denied insurance claim, message us.
