If you’re in a legal case, do NOT post about it on social media.

Your social media is one of the first places an insurance adjuster, prosecutor, or opposing counsel will look.

They will review your profile and past posts to look for evidence to use against you and contradict your claims. The opposing side of your legal case will look for:

👉Inconsistencies in your story
👉Proof of where you were and when
👉Your relationships and associations
👉How you’re actually living
👉Evidence of fraud or misrepresentation

A post doesn’t need to be incriminating to be used against you.

Even something as simple as a vague social media post like “rough week” could be twisted out of context. Attorneys are looking for anything they can use to argue their side of the case.

Many people think locking down their social media profile protects them from scrutiny. But, courts in Florida can require you to share social media content. Posts you thought were gone or hidden can potentially be requested for discovery and used as evidence.

Not posting on social media isn’t about hiding the truth.

It’s about understanding how social media can be used in your case, protecting your interests, and setting yourself up to get the best outcome in your case.

Regardless of whether you are attending a fireworks show or planning to put on a small display of your own, it is important to remember that fireworks can cause serious injuries if not used with caution. A couple of common types of fireworks-related injuries include:

🔹 Burn injuries account for 37% of fireworks injuries and often affect hands, arms, and exposed skin. Even sparklers burn at extremely high temperatures and can cause serious burns.

🔹 Eye injuries can involve permanent vision impairment when safe viewing distances are not maintained.

🔹 Lacerations, hearing loss, and respiratory irritation can occur when devices malfunction, explode unpredictably, or produce excessive smoke or noise exposure.

🔹 More severe injuries from fireworks typically involve aerial shells or mortars from fireworks and may lead to long-term disability.

While being aware of these injuries is key to preventing them, it cannot prevent them outright. Having dedicated legal support is key in the event of an injury.

I recently spoke to WFTS - Tampa Bay 28 about a high-profile case that had people talking.

Jacksonville rapper Julio Foolio was killed in Tampa, and during the murder trial, prosecutors used rap lyrics as part of their evidence.

The case attracted a lot of attention as it raised questions about how lyrics, social media posts, and artistic expression can be used as evidence in court.

I spoke to WFTS to explain why there’s a thin line between using social media content and artwork as evidence in a case.

This one is pretty hard to believe.

You’d think it would be safe to say you can’t get a speeding ticket if you aren’t driving.

But that’s not the case.

In Florida, school-zone speeding cameras can ticket car owners even if they aren’t driving at the time of a speeding incident.

If someone else is driving your car and gets caught on camera speeding in a school zone, you (the car owner) get the ticket.

If this surprises you, you aren’t alone.
