Special thanks to all of my clients, friends, and family for holding it all together while I was working in Italy. It was not a vacation - though it’s true I need one. Katie Rose Bobby Bryan and Dallas, … really huge way to step up. Thank you! It’s been an incredibly rough week or so since returning, but five Bryan & Prince, PA clients have prevailed in matters at USA Gymnastics, USA Archery, USA Shooting, And USA Cheer. Certainly more details and litigation are going to flow from those matters, but for now, I’m simply grateful for all of you and the love and support you have provided me and the firm. Today, I work from home. Let’s go, AAU.

Todays SafeSport saga: the organization decided to disclose confidential reports to a non-party because they forgot to check the file to see who was legally allowed to have copies of the docs.

SafeSport didn’t do it once. It did it three times over the course of the last 8 months. Three different SafeSport employees. Who were they disclosing it to, parties who would otherwise have been witnesses to the facts and circumstances surrounding the underlying issues. Not only does the organization represent the pinnacle of professional incompetence, but the casual disregard for the law or the implications of its actions are astounding. Abuse of its own process? Violations of law / Ted Steven act? Witness tampering? If a participant has done anything near this they would be suspended if not banned. This is outrageous.

I have decided I am going to start a SafeSport / sports video blog to answer questions for participants under the Olympic movement. If anyone has questions that they would like formally addressed, private message me and I will do my best to formally address them as a form of outreach - this includes parents as well.

It’s time for substantive change.

Today I am reminded that the U.S. Center for SafeSport is little more than a political and business cudgel that people will use against one another for clearly financial and political reasons. And this is happening while the Center grinds and drags actual victims through years long investigations. It’s incredible how badly a organization like the Center is needed, but the statute, the Code, and SafeSport leadership all need to be completely overhauled for this organization to stand a chance.

Add swimming, volleyball, soccer, shooting, and archery to the list of NGBs that seem to have joined the Center in failing their membership in every way.

We are not going anywhere. The courts are starting to pay attention.

Fencing and basketball in Italy isn’t too bad, though.
