Tax representation is not always about going to war with the IRS.

It is about knowing the process, being prepared, finding the right person, and staying in the room until you reach the best resolution available.

Every new experience sharpens the tools I bring back to the taxpayers who trust me with their cases.

The learning continues. The mission stays the same.

Protect the taxpayer. Solve the problem. Bring peace of mind.

Back-to-school season can get expensive fast. 🍎📚✏️

Classroom supplies. Books. Educational materials. Professional development. Teachers often reach into their own pockets to make sure their students have what they need.

The good news? Some of those expenses may qualify for a tax deduction.

For 2026, eligible educators can deduct up to $350 of unreimbursed qualified educator expenses. Married educators filing jointly may potentially deduct up to $700 if both qualify.

So while you’re stocking your classroom, save those receipts. 🧾

A little organization now can make tax season a whole lot easier later.

Setting aside a random percentage for taxes may feel responsible.

But if that percentage does not reflect your actual profit and personal tax situation, you could still end up surprised.

Your tax set-aside can be affected by:

• Business profit
• Other household income
• Filing status and dependents
• State of residence
• Business structure
• Taxes already being withheld

The goal is not to guess perfectly every time you get paid.

The goal is to create a starting target, move the money before spending it, and review the target as your income changes.

I’ll explain how taxes fit into that system during the Money Mastery workshop I’m co-hosting with Dominique Jeanty.

Sometimes an 11-year-old can explain money better than the grown-ups. 😂

Blaire understood the assignment:

Money may be in your account, but that does not mean all of it is available to spend.

Some belongs to the business.

Some belongs to the IRS.

Some needs to pay you.

And some should protect you during slower months.

This Thursday, Dominique Jeanty and I are hosting a virtual Money Mastery workshop to help entrepreneurs, freelancers, side hustlers, and self-employed professionals give every dollar a job.

A good month can bring in money without bringing peace.

When business expenses, taxes, personal bills, savings, and your paycheck all compete for the same balance, it becomes difficult to know what is actually yours to spend.

That is why making more money does not always make you feel more secure.

Sometimes, the missing piece is a system.

This Thursday, July 30, Dominique Jeanty and I are hosting a virtual Money Mastery workshop for entrepreneurs, freelancers, side hustlers, and self-employed professionals who are ready to stop guessing with their money.

I could go bankrupt behind this... but a deal is a deal. 😂

After I hired my oldest son, Carter, to write our newsletter this summer, my youngest daughter Zoe kept asking when she was going to get a job.

I kept telling her, “When an opportunity presents itself, I’ll let you know.”

Well... yesterday she decided not to wait.

She walked up to me with a business proposal.

“Dad, there’s this trend going around. I’ll make you the video.”

I asked her, “How much are you charging?”

Without missing a beat, she said, “Per likes.”

So now I apparently have an employee whose compensation depends on all of you. 😅

The assignment?

“My papa said come to The Oasis Firm.”

Five different moods. One determined little entrepreneur.

The funny part is, this wasn’t really about the video.

She saw an opportunity where she had been told there wasn’t one. She created value, proposed a deal, and made sure both of us could benefit.

That’s business.

The best opportunities aren’t one-sided. They’re win-win.

So if someone tells you there isn’t an opportunity...

Get creative.

There just might be one hiding in plain sight.

Help me avoid bankruptcy.

👍 Like the video.

📤 Share it with someone.

And if you actually need tax help...

Do what Zoe said.

Come to The Oasis Firm. 😂

“Still waiting on my refund?”

Today I reviewed a case where the IRS had been holding a taxpayer’s money since 2024.

The refund wasn’t denied.

The paperwork wasn’t missing.

The money was simply stuck behind a hold.

One phone call uncovered the issue.

One referral got the case moving.

The lesson?

Waiting is not a strategy.

And remember: some IRS refunds and claims have deadlines. If you wait too long, the money may no longer be yours to claim.

Comment REFUND or send me a DM if you’re tired of waiting on Uncle Sam.

Tax returns are easy.

Finding records from five years ago?

Not so much. 😅

One of the biggest parts of tax resolution isn’t tax law.

It’s document recovery.

The people who keep good records save themselves time, money, and headaches.

Today’s Taxes in 60 highlights one of the most commonly overlooked gaps I see when reconstructing old returns.

🎥 Watch the video.

💬 Then tell me: what’s the hardest document you’ve ever had to find?
