Companies that stuck with their diversity, equity, and inclusion policies during the second Trump administration, which has sought to cut such programs from the federal government and encouraged private-sector firms to follow suit, have incurred no financial penalties, according to a new study.

Corporations in the S&P 500 that maintained their DEI programs performed just as well in terms of stock market returns and revenue as firms that wound down their diversity efforts, Jacob Grumbach, an associate professor at the Goldman School of Public Policy at the University of California, Berkeley, and the co-author of the new paper, "Markets Do Not Punish Firms for Maintaining DEI," told CBS News.

Companies that stood by their diversity efforts faced no detectable impact from investors or shoppers, researchers found.

Registration is now open through October 2 for Counsel to Counsel, The Florida Bar's free, app-based mentoring program that connects newer lawyers with experienced practitioners. Since launching in 2023, the statewide program has increased from 188 participants in its first year to more than 600 in 2025-26, with organizers aiming to surpass 800 participants this year. Mentor-mentee matches will be announced in mid-October and are made through the MentorcliQ platform based on practice areas, professional interests, and career goals.

The U.S. Department of Labor has issued two opinion letters addressing how the Fair Labor Standards Act applies to the commuter travel of employees who work part of their workday at home:

1) FLSA2026-9: Whether midday travel between an employee’s home and work office is worktime that an employer must record and pay for under the FLSA, where the employee performs work at both locations and the midday travel is offered as a voluntary alternative to unpaid commuter travel that would otherwise occur before or after the employee’s workday.

2) FLSA2026-10: Whether time spent by an employee receiving pages, calling clients and other workers to schedule appointments, and driving from home to the first client appointment is worktime that an employer must record and pay for under the FLSA.
