A native Floridian, Attorney Willard was born in Miami, FL in 1967. He grew roots in North Georgia until joining the United States Navy in 1987. After serving two tours in the Persian Gulf, including Desert Storm, Attorney Willard received an Honorable Discharge in 1991. He then attended Tallahassee Community College, where he graduated with honors. He transferred to Florida State University, graduating Summa Cum Laude in 1995. Attorney Willard attended FSU College of Law, where he excelled in trial advocacy. He went on to coach law school and high school trial teams for over 10 years.
In 1997 he began work in criminal law as a Certified Legal Intern for the State Attorney’s Office in the Second Judicial Circuit. During his tenure at the State Attorney’s Office, he prosecuted DUI cases, drug offenses, violations of probation, and various other misdemeanor offenses.
Now Attorney Willard defends cases both in federal and state courts. His practice concentrates on criminal defense, DUI defense, drug charges, juvenile offenses, s*x crimes, violations of probation, domestic violence, assault and battery, helping clients reinstate their drivers license with the DHSMV, and assisting FSU students charged with conduct code violations.
In his free time, Mr. Willard serves as General Counsel to several veteran’s organizations and is very active in the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He is currently on the State Board of Directors as a Tallahassee Chapter Representative. Attorney Willard also serves as a mentor to veteran participants in the Leon County Veterans Treatment Court (VTC), and is the current Mentor Coordinator for the VTC Mentor Corps.
