We are seeing reports of scammers targeting the families of people who have been arrested or jailed. They pose as attorneys or law enforcement and claim immediate payment is needed for bail, legal fees, or other expenses.
This is not how legitimate courts, law enforcement, or how PLG operates.
🛑 Protect yourself:
✅ Verify information independently before taking any action
✅ Contact the agency or attorney using a trusted phone number
✅ Never send money based solely on a phone call, text, or email
✅ Be cautious of requests for gift cards, wire transfers, or cryptocurrency
✅ Do not share personal information, including your name, phone number, email address, banking information, or other identifying details
Courts and law enforcement never demand bail, fines, or fees by gift card, wire transfer, or crypto, and never take payment over the phone.
Scammers manufacture panic on purpose — to stop you from thinking clearly. Take a moment. Verify the facts.

If you or someone you know has already been targeted, report it to your local police, your bank, and the FTC at reportfraud.ftc.gov.
