This week Stevens Creek held our first every COMMUNITY GATHERING! While we have had Superstar Awards Assemblies honoring our Starburst Award Winners for the last couple of years, this week we "soft launched" our shift to Community Gatherings. We welcomed families to join us as we celebrated our fantastic students! We also had a special TK performance of the Hokey Pokey AND our staff held a Lost and Found Fashion Show! Such fun!!

Montclaire Elementary School is proud to announce our newest Students of the Month! For this round of recognition, our outstanding students were nominated by staff for embodying the core value of being Inclusive Collaborators.

An Inclusive Collaborator at Montclaire is a student who consistently works well with others, values diverse perspectives, ensures every classmate feels welcome and included, and contributes positively to group goals. We are incredibly proud of how these tigers lead by example, making our classrooms and playground a warmer, more supportive place for everyone.

Please join us in celebrating our stellar students and their commitment to community, teamwork, and kindness!

Stevens Creek is using the last few days of school to squeeze in as much great learning and celebrating as we can! In the last week 4th Grade had their Gold Rush Day. 2nd Grade had the Insect Museum visit Stevens Creek. TK and K took a field trip to the Palo Alto Junior Museum. Butters the Duck visited Mrs. Santana's 3rd grade class. This was a special visit arranged by our librarian, Mrs. Van Sickle. Mrs. Santana's class was the first to return ALL of their library books!

Stevens Creek's got Talent! This year in lieu of the traditional talent show, Stevens Creek started a new tradition: The Superstar Showcase! With the Superstar Showcase, students share their talents with a small, collaborative group! Performances are spread out over a few months and are held at lunch time for students and staff only. This format allows everyone who wants to participate the opportunity to do so. It fosters independence (students have to set up and dress on their own) and collaboration amongst peers. It was a wild success!!!

Last week, received something special—handwritten thank you cards from CUSD school leaders.

Each note was a reminder that behind every grant, every program, and every effort… there are real people doing meaningful work with students every day.

We’re grateful for the partnership, the trust, and the shared commitment to supporting our schools—together. 💛

Stevens Creek has gone to the farm!

Our TK classrooms learned about all things chicken and collectively hatched a total of 25 baby chicks! Those chicks have gone on to live with CUSD's very own Mr. Steven (our district electrician), and Mr. Evilio (district maintenance) with their existing chicken flocks. Let's talk about Global Contributors!

While TK learned about chickens, Kindergarten learned about life on the farm. Student groups researched, learned about, and shared their knowledge about different farm animals with their peers. They built appropriate habitats for their farm animals with a variety of materials made available to them, and that they found. Let's go Inclusive Collaborators!

CUSD Leadership Students from Hyde, Kennedy and Cupertino Middle Schools participated in the Rotary's Partners in Community Service (PICS) program this spring. Each class researched non-profits in the area, and selected a local charitable organization to receive a Rotary-provided grant of $500. Class representatives were invited to the Rotary's luncheon meeting on May 13th where they awarded grants to Second Harvest of Silicon Valley, Silicon Valley Humane Society and Muttville.

Many thanks to Cupertino Rotary for continuing this wonderful tradition in the CUSD schools, teaching the value of philanthropy and community service to our aspiring leaders!

Math meets masterpiece in first grade! 🔺➕🎨
We love seeing our Sedgwick Dolphins connect what they learn to the world around them. In “The Art of Shapes” project, our first grade students have been exploring how artists use geometric shapes in original art.
They’ve been: 📓 Observing and sketching shapes in the wild
🎨 Creating 2D art pieces for a classroom Shapes Gallery
✍️ Writing official artist statements for an upcoming "Meet the Artist" talk!
We can't wait to hear these young minds explain their artistic processes. Way to go, Dolphins! 💙
