House Bill 213 “The Georgia H**p Farming Act” legalized h**p in Georgia as of July 1st.
Currently, law enforcement technology in GA cannot differentiate between h**p and Cannabis, also known as ma*****na making it difficult for Georgia to prosecute ma*****na cases in Georgia.
Georgia law enforcement agencies are already fighting back asking the state to provide funding for labs and testing for THC 9.
Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is one of at least 113 cannabinoids identified in cannabis. THC is thought to be the principal psychoactive constituent of cannabis. With chemical name (−)-trans-Δ⁹-tetrahydrocannabinol, the term THC also refers to cannabinoid isomers.
Under the new law H**p with a delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol [(“THC”)] concentration of more 0.33 percent on a dry weight basis is what is still illegal in Georgia.
Before you roll a big fat blunt Georgia still has some District Attorneys, Police and Sheriff’s Department that do not want to give up the fight on ma*****na cases.
They are hoping that the Georgia Crime Lab will soon have the technology to allow them to resume prosecute new cases.
The Drug Policy Alliance, which advocates for an end to the War on Drugs, estimates that the United States spends $51 billion annually on these initiatives.
