I'm working on something lately:
Stop making an operation out of everything. 😂
Anyone else?

We can think.
And think.
And Google.
And ask five people.
And think some more.
And suddenly something that probably required ONE small step has become a full-blown production.

I've done this more times than I care to admit.
Sometimes we don't need the entire plan.
Sometimes we need to get still, pray, surrender what we can't control and ask:
What's the next right thing?
Not the next 17 things.
Just the next one.

Matthew 6:34 reminds us not to worry about tomorrow.

I'm trying to get better at actually living that.
Less overthinking.
More trusting.
Less trying to control every outcome.
More taking the next step and letting God handle what I can't.

Maybe somebody else needed that reminder today too. ❤️

I LOVE this. ❤️

Because sometimes we're in a season where joy feels really hard to find. We're hurting. We're worried. We're trying to figure out what comes next.

And maybe the answer isn't to force ourselves to “be positive.” Maybe we simply start noticing joy around us. A little kid laughing uncontrollably. A friend who has wonderful news. A couple holding hands. Someone dancing when they think no one is watching. A dog with its head out the car window. 😂

SC calls it “joy in the wild.”

And instead of looking at someone else's happiness and thinking, Why don't I have that?… What if we let ourselves enjoy it too? Borrow a little of their joy. Let it spill over into your life. You don't have to pretend the hard stuff isn't hard. You can simply leave a little room for joy to show up too. ❤️

🎧 My conversation with SC Perot is coming soon on Doing Divorce Different.

Where have you spotted a little “joy in the wild” lately?

✨ COMING SOON on Doing Divorce Different ✨

What if one of the most important things you could rediscover after a hard season is… joy?

This week I'm talking with attorney, law professor, and Styles of Joy author SC Perot about what happened when divorce and a career change left her asking:

Who am I without all of the roles that used to define me?

Her answer took her somewhere she never expected—including 17 Harry Styles concerts in five countries. 😂

But what started with music became something much deeper: learning how to intentionally cultivate, adopt, protect, and spread joy.

We talk about:
✨ Finding joy again when life changes
✨ Why your “joy profile” is allowed to change
✨ Childlike joy (and why we need more of it!)
✨ Comparison and jealousy
✨ “Borrowing” someone else's joy
✨ And one of my new favorite ideas: joy in the wild

This conversation is FUN—but it also goes deep.

Because sometimes when life gets hard, we become so focused on getting through it that we forget we're still allowed to experience joy along the way.

When you're going through divorce, trauma, betrayal, or simply a season you never expected, it's so easy to believe you need to figure out your entire life RIGHT NOW.

You don't.

What is one thing you can do today?

Gather one document.
Make one phone call.
Ask one question.
Take one walk.
Say one prayer.

One step becomes evidence that you can take another.

And eventually, those baby steps become a ladder. ❤️

THIS WEEK ON DOING DIVORCE DIFFERENT 🎙️

What if the person who hurt you can never give you the “why”?

This week I'm talking with author Dana Killion about trauma, betrayal, addiction, divorce—and what healing can actually look like on the other side.

Dana has walked through some incredibly hard things herself, and I loved how practical this conversation became.

We talk about:

✨ What to do when you never get the closure you wanted
✨ Dana's powerful “story of why”
✨ Loving someone with an addiction without trying to save them
✨ How to know when you may still have healing to do
✨ Why you get to decide who hears your story
✨ And how tiny steps can rebuild your confidence when life feels completely overwhelming

This isn't about rushing through the hard stuff.

It's about learning how to move through it—one step at a time.

If you’re lying awake trying to answer, “Should I stay or should I go?”—you don’t have to figure out your entire future tonight.

Start with information.

Learn your options. Ask questions. Understand what each path could actually look like.

Then make decisions from clarity—not panic.

Save this for the woman who thinks she has to have it all figured out before she asks for help. ❤️
