I am a solo practitioner attorney committed to helping people find cost-effective solutions to their legal issues. I handle family law matters including dissolution, paternity, custody, parenting time, and post-divorce issues. I also have extensive experience in student loan debt management.
My legal experience spans 20+ years. In that time, I clerked for the Minnesota Court of Appeals, practiced worker’s compensation defense for a small law firm, represented the State of Minnesota as an assistant attorney general, and worked as a senior attorney for a nonprofit student loan guaranty agency doing bankruptcy litigation and federal appeals in the federal student loan program. Each position has given me a different perspective of the law: I gained the judge’s perspective through my judicial clerkship, I’ve been the attorney in both the private and public sector, and I was the client/attorney in the corporate world.
I graduated from the College of Saint Benedict with a liberal arts degree in Humanities and started law school as a single parent when my two oldest kids were six and four years old. I earned my law degree from William Mitchell College of Law, where I had the honor of being Editor-in-Chief of the Law Review. Hailing from Fargo, North Dakota, I currently live in Stillwater, Minnesota.
I have the experience, knowledge, and skill to handle more complex litigation matters, but I prefer a collaborative process of dispute resolution without an expensive courtroom battle. If you are wondering whether I can help you in your legal matter, please call me at 651.321.3001. I offer a 30-minute free consultation.
