🏳️‍🌈 LGBTQ+ asylum seekers are being sent to countries where their lives are at risk.

The Trump administration has been deporting LGBTQ+ asylum seekers to third countries they have no connection to, including countries that criminalize same-sex relationships, where being gay, transgender, or q***r can mean prison, violence, or worse.
In one case reported by the Associated Press, a gay Moroccan woman who had a U.S. court order protecting her from deportation to Morocco was sent to Cameroon instead, where same-sex relationships are illegal. She says she is now back in Morocco, living in hiding.

A June 2026 report by Immigration Equality documented similar cases, including people who had already won protection from U.S. immigration courts. A Reuters investigation this month found 40 more cases involving deportations to Cameroon, Sierra Leone, and Eswatini, all of which criminalize same-sex relationships.
