While May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month, as the warm weather settles in and summer gets closer, we'd like to encourage everyone to continue to stay conscious of motorcycles on the roads.

It's honestly the same tips as always (for motorcyclists and all other vehicle drivers): signal your intent while driving/riding, don't make aggressive or unexpected lane changes, don't speed, don't drink and drive, stay aware of your surroundings, and don't drive/ride distracted. Additionally, be aware that motorcycles can easily disappear in vehicles' blind spots, and open up following distance so cars and motorcycles alike can maneuver or stop in an emergency.

Oh, and one last reminder: safety equipment. Riders, please invest in your well-being and survival with appropriate helmets and safety gear. NHTSA estimates that helmets saved the lives of 1,872 motorcyclists in 2017. An additional 749 lives could have been saved if all motorcyclists had worn their helmets.
