After-school hours can get busy, and a quick safety refresher can make a big difference for your family. Our team cares about keeping kids in our St. Louis community safe, both on and off school grounds, so here are a few tips to review together.
• Set up a check-in routine so your child contacts you as soon as they get home. Tools like family locator apps or a GPS tag on a backpack can offer extra peace of mind.
• If your child will be home alone, go over rules about locking the door, who is allowed to visit, and what to do if someone unexpected arrives.
• Talk through online safety. Remind them not to share personal details like their name, address, or school with anyone online.
• Make sure they know what to do in an emergency, including where to shelter in severe weather, where to meet outside during a fire, and who to call for immediate help.
• If they walk or bike home, look at their route together. Encourage them to avoid unfamiliar shortcuts and never accept rides from someone they don’t know.
We hope these reminders help your family feel more prepared this school year. If you ever have questions about safety or need guidance after an accident, our team at Siegel Injury Law is always here to support you.
