- PRO SE DIVORCE ASSISTANCE
This service includes assistance in obtaining a divorce pro se. "
Pro se" means you will be representing yourself. How this service works is that an individual seeking a simple divorce would attend 2 meetings with me and I would draft all their paperwork needed for the divorce and advise them in how to represent themselves. Prior to the first meeting I would email you a questionnaire that you would get back to me. I use those answers to draft your paperwork needed to file for divorce. I would have those documents drafted and ready to review at our first meeting. At that meeting we would review the paperwork, make any needed changes and I would give you written and verbal instructions on how to file for divorce, how to serve the other party, how to file a default if needed, and how to appear in front of Friend of the Court if need be. After your FOC meeting you would then contact me to set up your second appointment. At your second appointment I draft all the paperwork needed to conclude your divorce and give you verbal and written instructions on how to file that paperwork, serve it, and appear in court. This service is ideal for someone seeking an uncontested divorce or default divorce, where there is minimal property involved or where the parties are in agreeance to property distribution, where there are no children of the marriage or where the parties are in agreeance to custody/parenting time of the minor children, where there are no retirement funds to be divided and where no one is seeking spousal support.
- ESTATE PLANNING PACKAGE
This package includes a Will, Medical Power of Attorney and Financial Power of Attorney. A Will allows you to distribute your property to who you wish after your death and to nominate a guardian for any children who may be a minor at your death. A Medical Power of Attorney allows you to nominate someone to make major medical decisions for you in the event you cannot and allows you to put your wishes regarding life support in writing. A Financial Power of Attorney allows you to nominate someone to make financial decisions for you in the event you cannot. Common concerns my clients resolve with these documents are;
(1) nominating a guardian for their minor children in their will;
(2) making sure their children and their step-children get the shares that the testator wants them to have in a will;
(3) making sure grandchildren are accounted for in the final distribution of their estate; and
(4) making sure final wishes regarding life support are spelled out thoroughly.
