Did you know that our office practices outside of St. Charles County, Missouri. We frequently have cases in Lincoln County, Warren County, and St. Louis County. We have also been retained (along with local co-counsel) in Circuit Courts hours away. Your long-term family structure is at issue..you should hire a lawyer who explains the multiple paths your case might take. Did you know?? Missouri now provides job and employee benefit protection for victims of sexual or domestic violence if the employer has at least 20 employees.

Effective Aug. 28, Missouri employers with at least 20 employees in the state must provide unpaid leave for employees who are victims of domestic or sexual violence—as defined by state statute—or have family or household members who are victims of such violence. Covered employers must also notify current employees of their right to leave under the law by Oct. 27 or upon commencement of employment for future employees.

The new law—titled the Victims Economic Safety and Security Act (VESSA)—provides employees with protected leave time to: seek abuse-related medical attention and counseling, or recover from abuse-related injuries (physical or psychological); obtain services from a victim services organization; participate in safety planning; temporarily or permanently relocate to a safer living space, or take other actions to increase the safety of the employee (or family or household member); and/or pursue legal remedies to ensure the health and safety of the employee (or family or household member), including preparing for civil and criminal actions resulting from the violence. Of note, not only may employees take VESSA leave relating to their own experience with domestic or sexual violence, they may also take leave to deal with such abuse suffered by a "family or household member," including individuals who reside in the same household as the employee, immediate family members by blood or marriage, and people who "share a relationship through a son or daughter."

Be way of local law enforcement pretending to be customer service agents protecting your "rights" when dealers start ditching valid scales for weighing product and rely on fraudulent "cell phone apps" that display what is expected from the user. There is also a rash out fo their of people paying for their "supply run" with counterfeit cash. Many drug charges are state but once you get into bigger quantities or fake currency then the FBI, DEA and even Secret Service (they handle the FAKE MONEY) get involved.

Remember - you have the absolute right to speak to an attorney before saying a word. Practice saying "I am exercising my right to a lawyer." If you don't have a lawyer feel free to contact our office to see if we can assist you.

VICTORY

Did you know that you have TWENTY MINUTES to reach a lawyer AFTER you are arrested in Missouri for driving or boating while impaired? You do, but ONLY if you ASK for this time.

With our client's explicit consent, we are authorized to share with you that our office obtained a significant victory against the Missouri Department of Revenue over this issue. When a local law enforcement officer (and his employer agency) took our client's cell phone as part of the routine booking process, they categorized our client's request to call us as an immediate refusal to take the test. We take the time to educate our clients on Missouri law and we take the time to obtain the audio/visual records of arrest and the booking process. Don't let your lawyer only rely on the police report, pay the extra cost to get the audio-visual records. These records proved what I knew all along, I had educated my client well because he said clear as day something like "I get 20 minutes to call..."
