I have read the 990 and reviewed philanthropy.org and Dollywood Foundation (Imagination Library) is/was never funded by the government. It is a public charity, not a government literacy program.
I do not like discussing politics on social media, and this is not about politics. It is about truth and lies. Progressives are capitalizing on the tragic loss of Dolly Parton and accusing the GOP of cutting funding for her literacy work in a single day (an impossible task.) They are spreading this lie all over social media within hours of Dolly’s death. The volume of responsive noise rattling in the echo chamber is disheartening and nauseating.
This lie minimizes Dolly’s contribution to overcoming literacy in honor of her father by crediting this most successful program to government, the very institution failing our illiterate young people. This is disgraceful.
