After I was diagnosed with Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and Lyme Disease in 2018, my life changed. For 7 years, I had been a stressed out, always on-the-run trial attorney that thought self-care was something you only did for 2 hours on a Saturday morning. I took 3 weeks off from work to recover, thinking I could win this battle if only I combatted it with enough antibiotics and old-fashioned hard work.
I sorely underestimated how ill I had become, and how powerful those little ticks were. I didn't know if I would ever work again. I was suffering from a level of fatigue and brain fog that made me feel like I didn't know who I was anymore.
From that time of uncertainly, sadness and at times, despair, came the idea to start my own business. I had a ton of support from family, friends and my medical team. Thank goodness. I could never have done this alone.
Today, when I meet with clients and we find ways to talk about subjects that are near and dear to them, I am so grateful.
Do I move a lot slower today? Yes
Do I listen more? Yes
Am I grateful? Yes
Just wanted to share part of my journey that doesn't get shared that much...To let you know that I have been through dark times and had the faith to keep going. So you can too. š
