Today was a closing day — a day that is usually filled with nothing but excitement and celebration. ❤️🏡

This transaction was a smooth one from start to finish, but this past week brought an unexpected layer of emotion and uncertainty as our Spokane community faced devastating fires and so many families were displaced from their homes.

A moratorium was put in place affecting certain home closings in Spokane County. In simple terms, this meant that some transactions located within impacted fire areas and specific ZIP codes were temporarily unable to move forward until it was determined that it was safe and appropriate to proceed.

Thankfully, my buyer’s home is located in the Spokane Valley and was not within one of the affected fire zones, allowing us to receive the clear to close and get my client the keys to her very first home today. 🗝️

I am incredibly grateful and excited for my client, but I also want to acknowledge that this celebration comes with a heavy heart. While one family is getting the keys to a new beginning, many others in our community are facing unimaginable loss and uncertainty.

I also want to give a huge thank you to the cooperating broker, Wendy Hughes. She was absolutely wonderful to work with throughout this transaction. I feel so fortunate that I continue to have the opportunity to work with amazing agents on the other side who communicate, collaborate, and help make the process smoother for everyone involved.

As a community, we do what we always do — we come together, support one another, and keep moving forward. I’m honored to continue helping buyers and sellers navigate their real estate journeys while also supporting those who have been displaced and impacted by these fires.
