☠️BEWARE: ☠️That ‘help’ your parents give with the kids?
In court, it can become evidence used against you.

I cannot tell you how many minor guardianships I’ve defended. I can tell you that they all have (1) thing in common. 👇🏻

☠️ a grandparent, mother in law, sister etc believes they should have your child because “they can parent better”.

It sounds absurd, but all it takes is a couple paragraphs describing how you’re a bad parent or unfit parent and P**F your kids are gone and now you’re in a legal battle that you can’t afford, to get your kids back.

✔️ A separate account in your name only ✔️ Enough to cover a retainer (at least 5k) ✔️ Somewhere he doesn’t have access or login info ✔️ Start small: even $20 a week adds up

Save yourself the HEADACHE & LEGAL FEES → Do this one thing BEFORE filing for contempt on a child support order.

If your ex has stopped paying Child Support, don’t immediately go down to the court house and file a motion for contempt.

Instead, send them a message (in writing) asking what happened or if they need a short grace period to get child support paid.

Sometimes – not all the time – the paying party has simply forgotten; they are between jobs; or their employer didn’t set up the DCS collection properly.

Sending a friendly reminder making you appear reasonable and avoids costly litigation IF the missed payment was simply an oversight.
