🦌 It’s that time of year again, New Jersey.

The days are getting shorter, the leaves are changing…and the deer have apparently decided traffic laws are optional. 😅

Fall brings increased deer activity throughout New Jersey, particularly around dawn and dusk. And as we move toward late October, deer mating season means drivers are increasingly likely to encounter them on or near our roadways.

A few reminders for the fall commute:

• If you see one deer, assume there may be more behind it.
• Give the vehicle ahead of you extra room in case it has to stop suddenly.
• Use your high beams when appropriate to help spot deer near the roadway.
• If a collision becomes unavoidable, brake and stay in your lane rather than swerving into another vehicle, tree, or fixed object.

Especially here in North Jersey, sometimes the biggest hazard on your commute has four legs and absolutely no regard for the right-of-way. 🦌😂

Stay alert, slow down, and get home safely.

⚖️ 5 Things Your Lawyer Wishes You Knew Before Your First Consultation

1. Bring the paperwork. All of it.
Yes, even the document you’re pretty sure doesn’t matter. Let us make that call. 😉

2. Dates matter.
Try to have a basic timeline of what happened and when. That random date you almost forgot may turn out to be very important.

3. Tell us the bad stuff, too.
Seriously. We’d much rather hear it from you than hear it for the first time from opposing counsel. There’s nothing quite like a courtroom surprise… and we prefer to avoid them. 😅

4. Save. Everything.
Text messages, emails, photographs, voicemails, letters, receipts; if you think it might matter, don’t delete it.

5. Ask questions.
You’re not expected to speak fluent lawyer. If you don’t understand something, ask. Part of our job is making sure you understand what’s happening with your case.

At the center of this case is an issue that extends beyond the circumstances of any single arrest: the responsibility to protect an individual’s privacy and dignity when sensitive law-enforcement footage is released to the public.

We are proud to represent our client as she seeks accountability through the legal process, and we appreciate NJ.com bringing attention to this important issue.

We’re pleased that we were able to successfully resolve our client Bryan’s case involving a Detective from the City of East Orange.

This matter involved complex and highly disputed facts, and the resolution reflects a decision by all parties to avoid the uncertainty of trial. (Transparency NJ)

Cases like this are never about being “against” law enforcement. We have great respect for the difficult work officers do every day. At the same time, when serious issues arise, they deserve to be addressed carefully and professionally through the legal process.

We’re glad Bryan was able to move forward.
