The fastest hearing ever, and a satisfying outcome to boot. Judge approved a very favorable settlement this Christmas Eve morning. Even more importantly, my client closed a very frustrating period in her life where the insurance company literally did nothing on her case for over a year. This week, two former clients contacted me. The first client had a legal question, gave me a life update, and told me she wrote a Yelp review when she found out I started my firm.

The second client injured herself at work, and her supervisors delayed tendering the claim to the insurance company. She was frustrated and in pain. I helped walk her through a plan of action, and told her to call me if any further issues arose. Luckily, her employer got their act together. Much to my surprise, she still wants me to act as her attorney so that she doesn’t have to worry about being taken advantage of.

The biggest accomplishment an attorney can make in handling a case is earning their client’s trust. The biggest compliment is continuing that trust even after their case settles.

I am proud to announce the opening of The Law Office of Lael Abaya.

The firm's mission is to protect injured workers throughout the Bay Area during the course of their workers' compensation case.

As the son of a Navy veteran and a registered nurse, I have been guided with three core values since birth – honor, commitment, and empathy. After spending over five years working as an attorney for a large insurance company, I felt a nagging feeling - a feeling that I wanted my legal work to stand for something more. Ultimately, that feeling led me to a practice focused on representing injured workers of all ages, backgrounds and professions. This includes helping secure six figure settlements for a mechanic in his fifties, a restaurant worker in her forties, and a construction laborer in his thirties.

I am ready to represent injured workers against insurance companies that want nothing more than to pay as little as possible for their work injury. With my extensive background as an attorney for a large insurance company, I am well-versed in defense-side tactics and ready to employ this knowledge as an advocate for injured workers.
