Jones Law Office is pleased to announce that Attorney Graham Polando has joined the firm. Mr. Polando brings a unique blend of judicial leadership, trial experience, and legal scholarship to his new role in private practice.

Prior to joining Jones Law Office, Mr. Polando served for more than twelve years as Magistrate of the St. Joseph Probate Court in South Bend, where he primarily heard juvenile delinquency and Child in Need of Services (CHINS) cases. He also carried a regular family law docket and heard cases involving estates and adult guardianships, and he served as special judge in other civil matters. While on the bench, he was the Chair of the Indiana Office of Court Services’ Juvenile Advisory Committee.

Mr. Polando is a respected author and contributor to Indiana legal practice resources. He authored Volumes 14, 15, and 15A of West’s Indiana Practice series on Family Law, and he is responsible for updating Robert L. Miller Jr.’s Volumes 12, 13 and 13B of the same series covering Evidence law. He has also published written work in professional and academic journals.
Mr. Polando earned a Bachelor of Arts in History, Political Science, and Philosophy from Hillsdale College in 2004, a Juris Doctor from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 2007, and a Master's Degree in Criminal Justice from Boston University in 2011.

Before his judicial service, Mr. Polando served as sole or first-chair counsel in twenty jury trials and assisted as second-chair counsel in six additional jury trials. He is a past chair of the Indiana State Bar Association’s Legal Ethics Committee and continues to serve as a volunteer with the Indiana Supreme Court’s Judges and Lawyers Assistance Program (JLAP).

On December 22, 2025, the Indiana Court of Appeals issued a unanimous 3-0 decision reinstating the 2024 jury verdict in the defamation litigation between former LaPorte County Auditor, Timothy Stabosz, and former LaPorte County Attorney, Shaw Friedman. South Bend, Indiana — Jones Law Office is pleased to announce that Attorney Ashley Mills Colborn has joined the firm. Ms. Colborn brings over 15 years of legal experience in public service and the judiciary to her new role in private practice. Prior to joining Jones Law Office, Ms. Colborn served as Magistrate Judge for the St. Joseph County Probate Court, where she presided over Child in Need of Services (CHINS) cases for six years. Ms. Colborn began her legal career in 2009 with the Indiana Department of Child Services, where she advanced to the position of Assistant General Counsel. She joined the City of South Bend as Assistant City Attorney in 2016, providing legal counsel to various city departments.

Ms. Colborn earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Radford University in 2005 and her Juris Doctor degree from Valparaiso University School of Law in 2009. She was admitted to the Indiana Bar in 2009. Ms. Colborn’s specialties include all domestic relations issues, including child custody and parenting time modifications, adoptions, Child In Need of Services actions, Termination of Parental Rights matters, and guardianships.
