The New Jersey Muslim Lawyers Association proudly celebrates our member, Lubna Qazi-Chowdhry, on her swearing-in as a New Jersey Administrative Law Judge.
Judge Qazi-Chowdhry’s transition to the bench embodies the resilience and promise of our community. Her career reflects a profound commitment to justice, including her work enforcing the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination and ensuring federal civil rights compliance during her tenures at the New Jersey Division on Civil Rights and the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights. As a dedicated public advocate, she has handled significant cases involving discrimination based on national origin, religion, and other protected characteristics, while developing proactive policy strategies to protect vulnerable communities across the state.
Her appointment enriches the judiciary and serves as an inspiration for the next generation of diverse legal professionals. She was sworn in on January 22, 2026, by Justice Rachel Wainer Apter, who served as Director during Judge Qazi-Chowdhry’s time at the New Jersey Division on Civil Rights. For the ceremony, Judge Qazi-Chowdhry used the Quran she received from her family in high school.
