𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐭 𝐓𝐚𝐲𝐥𝐨𝐫, 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐝𝐮𝐭𝐲

Slidell’s second Town Marshal, Robert Taylor, resigned after serving just three months from January to March. He resigned while recuperating from a bullet wound received in the line of duty. On Sunday, March 17, 1889, Marshal Taylor tried to arrest Henry Ballard for shooting a pistol along Hwy-11 in Slidell. Ballard shot and wounded Taylor.

Slidell's first town marshal, Edgar P. Robert, quit after just one-month on the job, because the job was too dangerous. The town's second marshal, Robert Taylor, resigned after just three months. Slidell’s third lawman toughed it out for four months before calling it quits and then left town entirely.

On August 7, 1889, John Morgan became Slidell’s fourth Marshal in less than a year. With no competitors, Morgan was elected to serve for a salary of FIFTEEN DOLLARS PER MONTH. Morgan would serve for two years as Town Marshal (until 1891), before deciding that was enough.

* April 6, 1889 - The St. Tammany Farmer reports that the body of Henry Ballard was found floating in Bayou Bonfouca. An inquest was held and the death was ruled an accidental drowning.

Honored to be a part of this amazing team!!

Engine 11’s crew received a request from a young fan. All he wanted for his birthday was a fire truck to stop by! The guys at central station showed up and made it extra special by presenting him with a special gift! Our guys are always going the extra mile to see that smile!

Tracey earned her Juris Doctorate from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law her Bachelor of Arts from Southeastern Louisiana University, and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Louisiana State University. Passionate about advocacy, she focuses on divorce, child custody and support, and community property matters, providing strong yet compassionate representation, often for victims of domestic violence.
