We are saddened by the passing of Rolly Samp, a political renaissance man and a quiet force in South Dakota politics.

From heading field staff for U.S. Rep. Ben Reifel to becoming Chief of Staff for Governor Frank Farrar at just 25, Rolly spent decades advising governors, congressmen, tribal leaders, and local farmers. He was also a long-time trusted advisor to Bill Janklow during his time in office.

Yet through it all, Rolly never lost sight of what mattered most: standing up for the little guy and pursuing justice for all.

Our thoughts, prayers and condolences go out to the Samp family during this time. Rolly will be greatly missed.

This week, a group of seniors from Touchmark Retirement Community visited Janklow Abdallah Law Firm for a tour of the historic bank vault inside our office. They learned about the history of the 1934 Dillinger Gang bank robbery and the Security National Bank Building, which was built in 1916. They were an amazing group, and we were honored to host them!

School is back in session (or will be starting very soon)! As our roads get busier with young walking, biking, and bus-riding students, please take extra care behind the wheel to keep every child safe.

Key School Zone & Driving Rules:

Slow Down: Obey all posted school zone speed limits and watch for flashing signal lights.

Stop for Buses: Always stop for school buses when their lights are flashing and the stop arm is extended.

Respect Crossing Guards: Watch for crossing guards and follow their directions immediately.

Stay Alert: Keep an eye out for kids near sidewalks, bus stops, crosswalks, parking lots, and along streets.

No Passing or Changing Lanes: Never pass vehicles, change lanes, or make U-turns in a school zone.

Put the Phone Away: Distracted driving is dangerous—never text, and keep hands off your phone entirely.

Park & Drop Off Responsibly: Never use handicap or emergency lanes for drop-offs unless you are licensed to do so.
