A recent trial defended by Attorney Jared Alfin ended with a complete defense verdict for a local business sued over claims that a routine oil service caused damage to a customer’s equipment. After hearing testimony and reviewing the evidence, the court found that there was simply no proof that the business caused the alleged damage. The judge entered judgment for the defendant and ordered the plaintiff to pay the outstanding balance for the services, along with court costs.

Not every claim has merit, and when the facts are presented clearly in court by an experienced litigator, businesses can successfully defend themselves and turn a liability into an asset.

If your business is dealing with a lawsuit, a disputed service claim, or a customer making allegations that aren’t supported by the facts, it may be worth speaking with us because sometimes the right move is to defend the case and let the evidence speak for itself.

Following a hotly contested hearing, Attorney Jared Alfin successfully obtained a $50,000 judgment for his homebuyer clients after they discovered unpermitted additions to their property that the seller denied existed on the disclosure forms. The hidden work created multiple code and safety violations, leaving the buyers with at least $50,000 in repairs.

We are committed to protecting homebuyers, even after the closing. If you discover undisclosed additions, illegal work, or other problems after a closing, you may have legal recourse. If something about your new property doesn’t add up, give us a call.

Hassett & George’s Melanie Jordan and Mary McManus were part of the fun at the Hartford St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday. Melanie (pictured on the left) marched with the Mulcahy Academy of Irish Dance, and Mary represented the Town of Glastonbury. We love seeing our team out and about celebrating with the community.
