The South Carolina housing market is showing healthy momentum! New listings rose 7%, in January, giving buyers more options, while pending sales climbed 6.1%—a strong sign of continued demand. Inventory increased 14.7%, creating a more balanced market, and the median sales price edged up to $337,000, reflecting steady home values. Here's some information you should find interesting:

The SC Senate Finance Committee gave a favorable as amended report to S.768 , regarding Homestead Exemptions. The bill, as originally filed, reduces the age of eligibility for the homestead exemption from 65 to 60 and increases the exemption from $50,000 to $100,000. The bill, as amended in the full committee, maintains the age of eligibility for the homestead exemption at 65 and increases the exemption from $50,000 to $150,000. The committee also discussed a five-year in-state residency requirement for receiving the exemption. The bill now heads to the Senate floor for review.
