800+ Marylanders have filed complaints with the federal government about their consumer reports since the start of 2022. But only 2% of consumers who contest their report get relief. We need to protect consumers and ensure that they aren't being hurt by inaccuracies on screening reports used by potential employers, landlords, and lenders. That's why I'm sponsoring HB 251, which was heard in the House Economic Matters Committee today.
Thank you to the Office of the Attorney General Consumer Protection Division, National Consumer Law Center, Maryland Consumer Rights Coalition, Human Trafficking Prevention Project, Maryland Network Against Domestic Violence, AARP Maryland, ACLU of Maryland, and Maryland PIRG for testifying in support!
