The firm's annual tradition continues! Each member of the firm selected an organization that means a lot to them, then the firm made a $50 donation to support that organization's mission. Here is what each of us chose and why:
- This year I (Kate), a lover of many beagles over the years, selected the Beagle Freedom Project which rescues beagles used for laboratory research. https://bfp.org/
- Lourdes Chavarria, Wonder Woman herself, selected WomenOne, an organization that supports global education efforts for girls facing extreme poverty, cultural barriers, and other hurdles. Their motto is: Educate a girl. Change the world. www.womenone.org
- Claudia Shannon, our fabulous associate, chose Circle of Care, a non-profit started by a family friend whose child was diagnosed with and thankfully survived childhood leukemia. Circle of Care helps families whose children have been diagnosed with cancer navigate all aspects of treatment, coping, and even remodeling homes to have wheelchair accessibility. https://thecircleofcare.org/
- Leigh Jones, our other fabulous associate, chose St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, the leading authority in treating and defeating childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. www.stjude.org
- Marta Curiel, our awesome paralegal, chose Everybody Wins DC, which is focused on helping children in the DC area develop and improve literacy skills. https://everybodywinsdc.org/
- Eunice Bonilla, our fabulous front desk admin, chose Covenant House which provides food and shelter for young people who are victims of trafficking, abuse, or are homeless. www.covenanthouse.org
- Darlene Mejia, our high school intern, elected to have her donation go to Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières) www.doctorswithoutborders.org to support medical professionals providing aid in the most needed corners of the world.
We're so thrilled to support these great organizations and their missions! I've included links to all of them if any of our followers want to donate too! 🙂
