Louisiana legislators vote today regarding your civil liberties.

Certain Representatives/Senators believe that every instance where someone suffers catastrophic injuries and/or death, because of the negligent actions of someone else, the value of ones health, the value of ones life, should be capped at a nominal amount. They want to put a discount price tag on the life of your loved ones, to protect the insurance industry. This cap in no way directly relates to guaranteed decreased insurance premiums.

On top of the damages cap, these legislators believe that insurance companies, drunk drivers, big oil and timber, should get the benefit of your health insurance premiums. Premiums you pay for with your hard earned income. You keep paying those insurance premiums BUT get no reimbursement from the at-fault party for money you spent to protect yourself and your families.

Lastly, as if that isn’t enough, In an attempt to bully injured victims, these legislators want to force citizens to be present for jury duty on any case valued over $5,000! Knowing that the auto insurance minimums, put every case in this category.

Call your representatives today and tell them you are against House Bill 9 and Senate Bills 418, 419, 471.
