Some accomplishments make headlines.
Others tell you just how far somebody has traveled.
For native Alonzo P. Jackson Jr., passing the 2026 NFL Players Association Contract Advisor Examination represents both.
Jackson recently announced that he passed the NFLPA exam, clearing a major hurdle on the path toward becoming an NFLPA-certified Contract Advisor and potentially negotiating contracts for professional football players.
But Takeover TV went digging.
And the deeper we looked into Jackson’s story, the clearer something became:
This journey didn’t start with the NFLPA exam.
It started years ago in Queensborough, around Bill Berry Park, with a young man developing a love for sports under the guidance of his father.
Today, that journey has stretched from Shreveport to college, law school, courtrooms, community leadership, NIL representation — and now the NFLPA.

🏠 QUEENSBOROUGH ROOTS
Jackson proudly identifies himself as a “Queensborough Baby” and referenced how far he has come from Bill Berry Park when announcing his latest accomplishment.
A Shreveport native, Jackson graduated from Huntington High School in 2005 before attending the University of Louisiana at Monroe, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Sociology in 2009.
But law would eventually become his calling.
Jackson enrolled at Southern University Law Center, where he earned his Juris Doctor.
And something buried deeper in his law-school résumé looks especially significant today.
Sports law was already part of the picture.

🏈⚖️ THE SPORTS CONNECTION DIDN’T START YESTERDAY
While attending Southern University Law Center, Jackson served as Vice President of the Sports and Entertainment Law Association.
He was also involved with the Black Law Students Association and served as 3L Class President.
Think about that.
More than a decade before announcing that he had passed the NFLPA Contract Advisor Examination, Jackson was already holding a leadership position in an organization centered around sports and entertainment law.
That makes this moment feel less like a career pivot…
and more like a vision coming full circle.
Jackson later added another degree to his résumé, earning a Master of Public Administration from Southern University’s Nelson Mandela School of Public Policy in 2015.

⚖️ BUILDING HIS NAME IN SHREVEPORT LAW
Jackson returned home and built a legal career that has touched several areas of the Shreveport community.
His professional background includes work as an associate with Washington and Wells Law Firm, where his practice included criminal defense, personal injury and family law.
He later served as an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Shreveport, with responsibilities involving legal counsel for the Shreveport Police Department, Shreveport Fire Department and Shreveport Parks and Recreation.
Jackson has also worked as a contract attorney with the Caddo Parish Public Defender’s Office.
In 2017, he established his own private practice, Alonzo P. Jackson Jr. Attorney at Law, expanding a career that has included criminal defense, personal injury, civil litigation and business-related legal matters.
But his work hasn’t been limited to clients who could simply afford representation.
In 2022, Jackson participated in a Caddo Parish initiative providing legal assistance to residents facing eviction — part of an effort to help people who might otherwise lack the resources to effectively advocate for themselves.
That combination of private practice, public service and community work helped Jackson build recognition beyond the courtroom.

One of the most interesting parts of Jackson’s announcement may have been three lines near the bottom:
High School NIL Representation.
College NIL Representation.
NFL Contract Advisor.
Put those pieces together and you can see the vision.

Jackson is positioning himself in a rapidly changing sports landscape where athletes are making major business decisions long before they ever reach a professional locker room.
For North Louisiana and the surrounding region — an area with a long history of producing college and professional football talent — Jackson’s move into athlete representation is especially noteworthy.
And Jackson brings something besides a love of football to the table.
He’s an attorney.
Contracts, negotiations and understanding what an athlete is actually signing aren’t side issues in NIL and professional sports.
They’re the business.

🏈 WHAT PASSING THE NFLPA EXAM MEANS
There’s an important distinction Takeover TV wants to make clear while also recognizing the magnitude of Jackson’s accomplishment.
Jackson passed the NFLPA Contract Advisor Examination.
According to the NFLPA, prospective Contract Advisors undergo an application and background process, mandatory education and an examination covering subjects including the NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement, salary-cap calculations, player benefits, NFLPA Contract Advisor regulations and other policies governing NFL players and their representation.
Additional administrative requirements must be satisfied before the full certification process is completed.
But make no mistake:
Passing the NFLPA Contract Advisor Examination is an accomplishment worth celebrating on its own.
Jackson has cleared one of the most demanding steps in the certification process — bringing him closer to turning a lifelong connection to sports into an opportunity to represent athletes at football’s highest level.

❤️ THIS ONE WAS FOR DAD
Yet the most powerful part of Jackson’s announcement wasn’t about contracts, NIL or the NFL.
It was about his father, Alonzo Pink Jackson Sr.
Jackson described his father as his first mentor, first coach and the person responsible for introducing him to his love of sports.
His father died in December 2009 after a lengthy illness.
Jackson was only 22.
But in announcing this accomplishment, Jackson reflected on something he says he didn’t fully understand when he was younger: those 22 years provided lessons capable of lasting a lifetime.
Every lesson.
Every sacrifice.
Every practice.
Every conversation.
More than 16 years after losing his father, the sport they shared has found its way back into Jackson’s professional life.
Only now, the kid from Queensborough isn’t simply watching the game.
He’s preparing for an opportunity to represent the people playing it.
Jackson also left a message for anyone pursuing a dream that hasn’t happened on their preferred timetable:
“Stay down, no matter what it looks like or what anybody else thinks.”
His announcement closed with Isaiah 60:22 and a message about trusting God’s timing.

From Queensborough to the doorstep of professional football, Alonzo Jackson Jr.’s journey is still being written.
And this latest chapter might just be the beginning of something much bigger.
