Making the Estate a beneficiary of an IRA can result in greater taxes paid, more funds available for creditors, and unnecessary court involvement.

If you want to control what happens to your IRA when you die, and if you want to ensure the greatest amount of income from the IRA is available for the people you care about most, you will want to consider designating a beneficiary or beneficiaries instead of your estate.
