The Social Security Administration is also sending out requests for repayment. The reason is typically an error on their part in calculating the amount a recipient receives each month. There is a 60 day appeal deadline. Please consult an experienced lawyer to fight back against what could be a large reimbursement.

The Department of Labor continues to send claw back letters for those who received unemployment compensation benefits during the COVID pandemic. Please contact a lawyer who can handle this dispute to avoid paying miscalculated benefits.

The Alabama Department of Labor, Unemployment Compensation Division, is now trying to seek reimbursement from people who received benefits under Covid. They assert an overpayment and it's called "claw back." They made the mistake on calculations yet they want to seek reimbursement from the beneficiary. If you have a demand for repayment, please note the deadlines and see a lawyer who can appeal the decision to circuit court.

The Corporate Transparency Act now requires large and small businesses to report to the U.S. Government or face severe penalties. Please review this legislation signed by President Biden in 2001 to ensure that you comply. If you have any questions, please let me know. I had to report for my law firm and my company.

Today, I obtained a copy off the Land Transfer and Development Agreement between the Sheffield Redevelopment Authority and Inspiration Landing Development, LLC. It has no reversion provision where the city would regain the land if the developer doesn't perform. He hasn't performed and my client has a judgment against him and his LLC.

On 1/30/24, summary judgment was granted against John Elkington, individually, and Inspiration Landing, LLC. Unless the defendants appeal, the case is over. Our client won and it's game over for Inspiration Landing.

Re: Inspiration Landing Development, LLC and John Elkington

Dear Lisa:

I represent Mr. Carl Raff in a lawsuit against the above referenced parties. Under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), Alabama Code Section 36-12-40 and 36-12-41, I am requesting copies of any and all documents, records, recordings (audio and/or video), papers reports, memoranda, council meeting minutes, and any other information between the City of Sheffield and the Sheffield Redevelopment Authority and the above named parties. This also includes any loans, bond issues or other debt related information, as well as the deed and engineering information relative to the Inspiration Landing project.

If there are fees associated with copying this information, please let me know. The law requires a response in a reasonable time period. If access to this information will take longer, please let me know. Always feel free to contact me with any questions.

Sincerely Yours:

Bennett L. Pugh

CC: Carl Raff and Wilson Mitchell

How will the City respond? Will the City respond? To be in compliance with the law, the City must answer Mr. Pugh's request. Once Mr. Pugh has the documents, he will surely use them in his court case against John Elkington. We eagerly await that development.

The Alabama Dept. of Revenue has a form which will allow someone to transfer the title of a vehicle to a surviving spouse or third party after the death of the owner. Please let me know if you need the form.

Update on Inspiration Landing. John Elkington has finally been served with the lawsuit. He avoided service by not accepting it by certified mail. I hired a process server and, on July 15, 2023, after four attempts, he was served. He can run but he can't hide.
