Don’t let a short trail distance fool you! Alaska’s terrain can be uneven, muddy, and more challenging than it looks, and weather conditions can change quickly.

Before you head out, check the weather and trail conditions, wear sturdy footwear, dress in layers, and give yourself plenty of time to enjoy the hike. And always keep an eye out for wildlife! 🐻

If you encounter wildlife, give it plenty of space and make your presence known while staying alert to your surroundings.

And of course, leave a little extra time for stopping to admire the views. 😉 Because around Seldovia, the journey is just as beautiful as the destination.

Bald eagles are almost always within view — perched along the harbor, soaring overhead, or watching the day go by from a nearby tree.
