Just a warning: Per order of the Governor, State of Florida statewide offices will be closed from July 2-6, 2026 in observance of Independence Day this year (250th anniversary, to give their employees a 5-day weekend). That means that the local tax collectors/DMVs, Health Departments, etc. will also be closed, and likely many other county and municipal offices. The local courts will only be closed July 3.

We are accepting donations of _individually prepackaged_ granola bars, cookies, crackers, water, juices, and the like to help the littles at Sebastian Elementary get through the day. Florida corporations and LLCs! Do not forget that the annual deadline to file Florida corporation and Florida LLC annual reports with the Florida Secretary of State, Division of Corporations (at Sunbiz.org) is MAY 1. It typically only takes 5 minutes and a credit card to timely file the annual report. VanDeVoorde Hall Law PL, a law firm with a focus on elder law, is looking for a full-time or part-time secretary or legal assistant in our Sebastian office to perform a variety of tasks to support the office’s two attorneys and two paralegals. Duties include coordination of front-desk activities, such as greeting clients when they arrive, answering and redirecting phone calls, and scheduling appointments for clients; creating files in the firm’s practice management system and supporting paper files as needed; composing cover letters and first drafts of letters and other documents, including legal documents, typically based on previously-established templates; and performing other clerical tasks as needed. Often this will be the first person that many clients and potential clients meet, so it is vital that a successful candidate have a positive demeanor and patience. Ability and willingness to learn is required. Previous law office experience is a plus but not required. Fluency in Spanish is also a plus but not required.
