“Seattle schools are bad” might be the most expensive myth in the region.

👉 While families are spending $200K–$300K moving to Bellevue and Kirkland for “better schools,” Seattle Public Schools just ranked as the #1 big-city school district in America by test scores.

Out of the 25 largest cities in the country, Seattle came out on top 🏆 We know. It’s big news.

And on the West Coast, Bellevue is the only urban district that outperforms it.

That doesn’t mean Bellevue or Kirkland schools aren’t excellent. They are.

But the idea that Seattle schools are fundamentally “bad” — or that moving East is the only path to a strong education — simply isn’t supported by the data.
