Just in case my echo chamber isn't as echo-y as I think it is, PLEASE REGISTER TO VOTE.
Indiana people, in 2020 y'all only had a 65% turnout in the general election. https://www.in.gov/sos/elections/voter-information/register-to-vote/voter-registration-and-turnout-statistics/
In 2022 it was an abysmal 40%.
Washington isn't exactly a swing state. But Indiana IS. And look, I very much appreciate feeling disillusioned about politics. I feel disillusioned about getting another cavity and having to burn 1/2 a day for the dentist. And I'd love to live in a world where I can repair my teeth at home, but I don't have that world today.
I would love to live in a world where we don't have to pick between candidates we don't like. But we don't have that world yet. Instead we have one candidate who is hellbent on self-serving destruction and elimination of the democratic process; and another imperfect candidate from an imperfect party.
So I guess democracy is like your aching tooth. You can ignore it for a bit, chew on the other side, etc; but eventually some sh*tty orange soda is erode your reproductive rights and put children in cages because you didn't take some time to take care of yourself.
And yeah, the electoral college sucks. Gaza sucks. Inflation sucks. But sitting your ass not only does nothing...you're making it THAT much easier for the country to lose its teeth.
