When seconds change lives, settlements ⚖️ can make a transformative difference for injured cyclists like my client who was hit by a left-turning driver who cut him off (also known as a left hook), and then faced issues with getting his injuries correct diagnosed and treated. His serious injuries limited his mobility and his quality of life.

We didn’t settle for the insurance company's initial lowball offer. Nope! After taking depositions, retaining expert witnesses and pushing his case forward in litigation, the insurance company finally got the message: we weren’t going to back down.

The result? A confidential seven-figure settlement, bringing the justice my client both needed and deserved!

Remember, you have rights! If you've been injured, don't let the at-fault driver’s company add insult to injury (literally and figuratively). At my firm, we fight for fair compensation, so you can focus on recovery.

Navigating the urban jungle can be daunting, especially for new cyclists!

Don't worry, I'm Stacie, your friendly neighborhood bike attorney (and yes, fellow cyclist!), and I'm here to help you thrive on two wheels!

My best advice:

🚴 Use our great bike lanes: They’re your dedicated space on the road, but know the flow. Don't “salmon” the wrong way in a marked bike lane - ever! ‍

✋ Signal like a pro: Hand signals aren't just for fun, they're your survival tools so drivers around you know what you’re doing and where you’re going.

🛑 Respect the stop signs: Cyclists can roll through stop signs in Washington if the intersection is clear, but if you get hit after a rolling stop, it will be considered your fault. So keep rolling, but make sure to scan first.

🪖 Gear up! Helmet, lights, reflective gear. While wearing reflective gear and a helmet is not required by law, it doesn’t do you any good to be dead right.

🛡️ Ride defensively: Assume drivers don't see you (because sometimes they really don't), but also don’t be afraid to commit to your moves, too.

🚲 And of course…know your rights: Familiarize yourself with local cycling laws and follow !

Share this post with your fellow newbie cyclists and let's make Seattle safer for everyone!

Think a no-contact bike accident means no legal recourse?

Think again! ❌

You may still suffer injuries (physical and emotional) even without direct contact with a driver.

If the driver breached their duty to yield to you and you had to take evasive action to avoid getting run over by their car, the driver is still at fault and you can recover damages from their auto insurance.

If this happens to you, make sure you gather crucial evidence at the scene including witness contact info. Ask your witness to take photos with their phone and text them to you at the scene so you have the photos + the witness’ contact info! Take your own photos as well and call the police to document the events leading up to the crash.

You don’t have to settle for "it was just a fall" when you would not have crashed but for the actions of a negligent driver. You deserve compensation for your injuries if the driver’s inattention caused you to crash!

As a bike attorney in Seattle, I see the physical and emotional toll injuries can take on active individuals like you.

It's not just about the numerous medical visits, it's about the stolen moments:

🌇 Sunsets missed on your favorite ride.

⛰️ The thrill of conquering a challenging climb.

🏙️ The simple joy of cruising through our city.

I fight for more than just compensation.

I fight for your right to reclaim your life on two wheels.

If you're:

An athlete who lives for adventure. 🚴

Someone who cherishes your active lifestyle. 🚴

Determined to get back to doing what you love. 💨

Then let's talk. I'm not just a lawyer, I'm an advocate for cyclists who understand the value of every pedal stroke.

Together, we can ensure bad drivers don’t take away your freedom. ❤️

Love the freedom & joy of cycling? 🚴 So do I!

But getting hit while riding can shatter that, leaving you hurt, isolated, and facing hefty medical bills and lost wages.

Insurance offers often fall short, like Naomi's. Her initial settlement covered her medical bills and some pain and suffering, but nowhere near enough to right the wrong.

That's where I come in. I fight for cyclists like Naomi, securing settlements that reflect the FULL value of human harms and losses – physical, emotional, and financial.

My injured cycling clients don’t have to settle for less than full value or leave money on the table. I’m an advocate who understands human damage and fights for justice, which allows my clients to focus on their recovery.

Until then - I’m glad we got another amazing settlement for a fellow cyclist! 💯

Seriously, it's never just about the bike, it's about your life on two wheels.

Injuries can rip away more than just skin and break bones. They take away our quality of life – our ability to ride, explore, and live life to the fullest. As a bike attorney, I understand this because I see it every day.

That's why I fight for more than just damages.

I fight for the things that truly matter:

🚴 Your lost enjoyment of life: Because riding isn't just transportation, it's freedom, health, and fitness.

🚴 Your active lifestyle: Getting back to the activities you love, pain-free and, if that isn’t possible, ensuring you are compensated for your lost health and pleasure.

🚴 Your peace of mind: Knowing you have a fair advocate by your side.

More than just clients, I see fellow adventurers. I want to help you get back on the road, stronger than ever. So, if you're an athlete who values an active lifestyle and the freedom of two wheels, connect with me.

Remember, it's not just about the accident, it's about reclaiming your life.

That’s why I love my job so much. Thank you all for being on this journey with me and cheering on my clients during their recovery! 🫶

As a bike attorney, I see far too many crashes where not having the right bike lights plays a role.

Today's video was filmed on the 12th Ave Bridge in Seattle and we’re going over the lowdown on Washington's bike light law (so don't forget to SAVE this post and SEND it to a friend who also bikes!)

💡What you *NEED*:

Front white light visible 500ft (brighter = better!)
Red reflector visible 600ft (but a red rear light is your friend!)

⏰ When you need them:

30 minutes after sunset to 30 minutes before sunrise (every day!)

⚠️ Why it matters:

Proper lights help you keep an eye out for hazards in the roadway, reducing crash risks.
No lights? An at-fault driver might blame you for not complying with the statutory lighting requirements. ⚖️

And here’s a bonus tip: Check your lights regularly, make sure they are charged or the batteries are working, and add as many bike lights as you like. The requirements above are only the minimum required by law!

Long time no see! 👋

Remember me, Stacie? I took a break, but I'm back on social media. Before I get into posting again, I'd like to share a piece of my story, reminding you why I became the Seattle Bike Attorney you see today.

In 2008, my life as a cyclist changed forever. A hit-and-run driver rear-ended me on a busy arterial and left me for dead in the street. The crash left me traumatized, both physically and emotionally.

That's why I fight so hard for my clients. I've been there. I understand the pain, fear, anger, and the fight for justice that injured cyclists face.

From struggling to get dressed in the morning to feeling waves of fear when I try to get back in the saddle, I know the challenges. Now I fight for injured cyclists who push through the same challenges I experienced after I got hit by a negligent driver. If you or a loved one has been hit while riding, know that the case is not just about your physical injuries. It’s also about how your injuries have impacted your mental health because emotional injuries are just as real as physical injuries! ⚖️

So reach out. Let's talk. You don’t have to go through this alone.
