And on October 17, the Sounders are giving us a whole night for it.

Cultural dance performances start at 6:45 PM in the North Plaza.

Filipino food trucks. A cultural marketplace full of local small businesses.

Bellevue was once a whaling port.

From 1919 until World War II, the American Pacific Whaling Company wintered its fleet in Meydenbauer Bay. It was one of the last whaling fleets based in the U.S.

- 1904: The Wilburton Trestle is built. It's the longest wooden trestle in the Pacific Northwest.
- 1919: The whaling fleet arrives in Meydenbauer Bay.
- 1925: The first Strawberry Festival. It's older than the city itself.
- 1979: Microsoft moves into downtown Bellevue with fewer than 15 employees.
- 1979: The city buys the Overlake Blueberry Farm in Mercer Slough. Today Bellevue owns 2 blueberry farms.
- Today: A 53-acre botanical garden you can walk for free.
