IMMEDIATE ATTENTION NEEDED!!
Alien Registration and Address Change Requirements

President Trump recently issued an executive order directing the government to enforce the alien registration requirement, requiring all non-US citizens (including children) to register and carry proof of registration. Failure to register is a federal criminal offense and there are civil and criminal penalties for those who do not register. Enforcement will begin on April 11, 2025.

To determine if you must register, and how to do so, please review the requirements at: https://www.uscis.gov/alienregistration. Parents and legal guardians of children under age 14 are required to register the children.

If you are NOT required to register (because you are already registered), you are still required to carry proof of registration. Registered people 18 years of age and older must carry proof of registration. If you have registered children under age 18, we advise you to carry their original or a copy of their registration documents. We advise you to put a copy of their registration documents in children’s school bags so they always have it.

If your proof of registration is a work permit, green card or I-94 form, you need to carry the original. Failure to register is a federal criminal offense and there are civil and criminal penalties for those who fail to carry proof of registration. You can find the list of documents that qualify as proof of registration here: https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-8/chapter-I/subchapter-B/part-264/section-264.1.

If you need assistance determining if you are required to register, have questions about this process, schedule a paid individual consultation ($350) by calling our office 206-787-1406 or emailing Delsy at [email protected].

Also, we want to remind you that all non-US citizens (including children) are required to notify the government of any change of address within 10 days of moving. You can read more about that process at https://www.uscis.gov/addresschange. If you are in removal proceedings in the immigration court or have a case pending before the Board of Immigration Appeals, you are also required to notify that agency of any change of address or phone number, within 5 days of moving or changing phone numbers. Failure to report a change of address is a criminal offense and carries civil and criminal penalties.

You can read more about the penalties of failing to register or failing to notify the government of your change of address here: https://uscode.house.gov/view.xhtml?req=granuleid:USC-prelim-title8-section1306&num=0&edition=prelim.
