July is Sarcoma Awareness Month, a perfect time to help educate the public in the hope of saving lives. In memory of Tom Lucas, her late husband and father of three, Mary Anne Lucas and the team at O’Malley & Langan are strong supporters of Steps to Cure Sarcoma, an organization dedicated to supporting those in need and working to raise awareness and funds to fight sarcoma - rare, aggressive forms of cancer that can start in the bones or soft tissue. Donations support collaborative research between the Penn Medicine, Penn Vet, and the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).

This July 4th marks America's 250th birthday, a perfect time to remember the ideals upon which this country was founded. For generations, we as Americans have steadily expanded what it means to be equal, and although we have faltered at times, the forward march toward freedom and opportunity continues.

For decades, it has been O’Malley & Langan’s distinct privilege to have played a part in this process. Every day, we work towards building a better society and pursuing justice for all.

Today, we recognize Juneteenth, a day that commemorates the end of slavery in America and honors the resilience, history, and contributions of Black Americans.

Today, Friday, June 5th, the Paul Miller’s Law warning period concludes and the law goes into full effect. Designed to reduce distracted-driving accidents, it prohibits handling or touching cell phones or other interactive mobile devices while operating a motor vehicle - including while you’re sitting at a stop sign or a red light.

The law is named in remembrance of Paul Miller, Jr., who was tragically killed in a crash after a distracted driver reached for their phone while driving.

We encourage you to share this information with family, friends, and coworkers to help make sure that all of our loved ones come home safely.

Memorial Day holds special meaning for the team here at O’Malley & Langan, and especially for our Founder and Senior Attorney, Todd J. O’Malley, who was named after his uncle Todd Boland, a platoon leader in World War II. Pinned down by German troops, he charged them with a gr***de and saved his entire unit. Killed in action, he was honored with both a Purple Heart and the Distinguished Service Cross.

This Memorial Day, please join us in remembering all the brave souls who never came home and the families who carry that loss every day.

On April 28, 1971, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) was created to reduce high rates of workplace fatalities, injuries, and illnesses; enforce federal laws and standards and actively recommend new legislation to address workplace changes that could put Americans at risk.

Over time, OSHA expanded the definition of what constitutes a work injury and spearheaded efforts to protect workers' rights, including establishing whistleblower protections.
