A bad medical outcome does not automatically mean medical malpractice.
Sometimes a patient can experience a serious complication even when their provider followed the appropriate standard of care.
The question is whether the provider did what a reasonably competent medical professional should have done under the circumstances.
When that standard is not met and the failure causes preventable harm, there may be grounds for a medical malpractice claim.
If something about your care does not add up, or you still do not have a clear explanation for what happened, it may be worth having the circumstances reviewed.
